Collage to Faces

Join Kristin Peterson on a mixed media trek. In this two day class, we will start out with collage and mixed media. Art marks, color, and layers of paper. Talking through tips and hints on how to make it work for you.

Day two will be faces! Abstract faces. No experience needed. These will be fun and playful and the wonkier the better. We will be using color to help define the features and creating on different types of paper to make our faces more interesting.

Whether you are new to mixed media or are experienced and may need a “loose”, large brush kinda day, these two days will be full of colorful drips, splatters and creative lines. Day two will not be a traditional “how to paint a face” class; but will be, a gentle space of creativity and kindness.

This class is suitable for all experience levels, as we will walk on the side of permission.

Join Kristin Peterson on a storytelling book-binding journey. In this three day class, we will be binding with elementary principles for our vintage and found pieces using fabric and waxed threads. Pages will be pieced together like patchwork quilts with our own sense of style while being mindful of overall book composition.

Let’s explore homemade stamps and our own art marks. And fill pages with image transfers and typed words. We will show our pages love by adding slow stitching and little pieces of everyday magic.

So bring along your curiosity and sense of wonderment to bind your own found story.

This class is suitable for all experience levels, as we will visit about what it means to be creative and will walking on the side of permission. Together, we will create and tell stories as makers.
