Join Kristin Peterson on a mixed media “gathering” journey. In this four day class, students will be making an accordion journal with vintage book covers, diverse papers and bound with cyanotype-dyed fabric. This journal will be full of folds, fabric and little pockets full of goodies.
The pages will be filled with exploratory image transfer and typed words. Hand sewn fabric bits and pieces of everyday magic. Bring along your collage stash and vintage pictures. Let’s gather this story.
Students will continue to creatively work to fill the pockets with experiments of paint and alcohol ink tags, Sculpey “stones” and found objects. While filling the pockets and layering papers, each student will explore composition and the visually appealing nature of their journal, while having a mindful conversation about color.
This class is suitable for all experience levels, visiting about what it means to be creative and walking on the side of permission. Together, everyone will create, gather and tell stories as makers.
Kristin Peterson is a third generation artist, originally from South Dakota. Kristin is always exploring and expanding the creative depths of acrylic paint. She is passionate about vintage collage work and mixed media. Kristin loves color and things that have a love-worn comfortable feeling, like an old, favorite pair of jeans - coffee stained, patched, painted and well loved. Her goal for art is to project feeling, making people connect and feel good while looking at it. Her paintings contain vibrance mixed with a little funk, and sprinkled with discreet sensibility. Her style is meant to make you ponder and smile, just as she does as she creates. Kristin’s creative passion is inspired and supported by her husband and kids, all who encourage, critique, and promote her work.
This is a Studio Only Workshop.
