Finding joy
I have a favorite quote, “I like finding things I didn’t know I had lost…..”
The newest “found” is the joy that tea tags bring.
Small.
Quaint.
With an addictive string…..
Tea stained (whether on purpose or accidentally- to be quickly swallowed into the cup)
And, The Ugly Art Club co founders and I went to Canton, TX at the end of February, beginning of March to the flea market. (always joy)
To dig through the piles, stacks or arrangements (depending on the vendor).
One vendor in particular…. We called him Joe.
He did have some good stuff.
Fruit boxes full of papery goodness.
Any normal person would probably assume that the contents was garbage…. But, to us, it was gold.
Wash your hands as soon as you are done; don’t touch your face, clothing or apply lip balm.
But, gold all the same.
Back to yesterday….. And the utter joy of a purchased paper full of vintage pictures (from Joe). This paper sheet of pictures is glued onto the back of a business letterhead paper from Honolulu and the phone number is 4 numbers.
Four numbers. Vintage.
And maybe I didn’t lose these papers of pictures. But I want the owner to know.
These have been found.
Found with unbridled joy.
Use all of the picture even if there is nothing actually in that scrap of photo; use all of it.
People will have to look close to determine if that is a picture? Of what? What kind of paper is that, close look.
And then combine. Loose tea tag with the perfectly stained string and a portion of paper with a picture. (Use all of it-remember). Is there anything in this portion?....
Oh yes. Numbers at the top of significance (do you have favorite numbers?) and the most delicate hint (almost a shadow; ghostly) of a telephone pole.
Add found words. ( in a sea of words).
Found joy.
