by the water's edge
Perseverance……
the willingness to accept the “ugly” phase. (know there are always continued possibilities.)
This means that sometimes you will set the canvas aside for days (or weeks). ((Maybe months…..))
But I do love the first layers of a painting.
The reckless abandonment. Total playfulness.
And the ability to welcome whatever happens.
several pics below to show you the journey this canvas has had.
This process is amazing to me. Why am I telling you this?
As a reminder to keep going.
I was working in the studio yesterday.
grabbing, painting, moving between paper, cut/ flat canvas and this stretched canvas.
And sometimes magic happens. (Or at least, magic to me….)
The mix of colors. The scratch through to reveal something else.
Hidden. Layers before.
I was loving this deep, dirty dark green (brown?) and watery turquoise blue; with a little pop of pink. And lime green and orange hints.
I didn’t film the painting yesterday; but maybe I should have…..
But when the phone is playing the music, the paint flows like wine.
Keep going.
