Alcohol inks & Printing
I so like this pic!
Still obsessing about this gel press plate and loving it even more with the delicious alcohol inks sprinkled on it.
My trick to keep those colors bright and popping on the paper is to use a “neutral” paint background.
I like using the dark titanium white by Master’s touch paint. This color has a great way of blending itself into the background of the paper and leave the colorful pop of the alcohol ink to steal the show.
The other trick I have learned is to allow the alcohol ink to dry before rolling my paint onto the press to print.
I made a short video to walk you through the process. Find the video here.

And not sure if you had joined the first book maker collective class this weekend or not, but I learned a bunch and was outside of my comfort zone with the complex stitch binding and all the measuring and templates! (NOT good with directions….or measuring for that matter…. ) Uffda!
But, I did end up with some super adorable books and learned a lot along the way. And the “live” part was so fun to be able to see other creatives making along with me and asking questions. A nice way to spend the day!
I will be up next teaching in April. More information about my class.
Here is one of the books I made on Saturday. First time using Kraft-tex and I am impressed. I had the washed kind and it was soft, flexible and yet sturdy and able to take a good crease. And yet, took paint nicely and was able to be machine stitched. Good stuff!
This is so good ‘ole Kristin stitching here. I did pre-poke my cover and signatures, but ended up poking new holes as I went…… oh well. I love the little wonkiness going on here.
