the mix of planned and unplanned

keeping it simple here with planned elements- book paper, smidge of vintage wallpaper and the finger prints; but it is the teabag with the same Payne’s grey that adds another neutral but an unplanned, uncontrolled element. and yet, pulls the page together.

it is always the mix that makes things interesting. it doesn’t have to be complicated.

and you can see this journal is small. try small and work your way up in size using this technique. the planned and unplanned elements.

and if you are asking yourself, what the heck is an unplanned element?! what is she talking about?….

it would be the under paper on your desk or table. that piece that you absolutely don’t care about and probably throw away that is catching all the drips and runs, that you also may use as a palette from time to time. it is the piece of paper or tea bag that you use to clean off your brayer, or you used to protect another page and over-stamped on.

these are the unplanned elements.

keep these and use the bits and pieces that looks super awesome. I know you have seen these. that little pop of color that catches your eye but why would you keep that?

planned and unplanned is why you are going to keep that.
